New York Pilates is looking for a Shift Manager in NYC. The Shift Manager’s role is to provide managerial support when the Store Manager or other business leader isn’t available on-site. They are responsible for overseeing business operations, delegating tasks to team members and resolving problems that occur on their shift. Their duties include managing/ordering supply inventory, leading check-in and schedule operations, coordinating employee responsibilities to improve efficiency or customer service. Shift Managers will perform the same tasks as employees while having the authority to manage co-workers in the absence of a studio manager. Shift Managers are responsible for resolving an issue and ensuring work is completed on schedule within a shift. They make sure that their team is meeting benchmarks for success and take care of employee absences, issues with equipment and closing or opening tasks, ensure all customer and student responses will be handled in a timely manner and up to NYP standards. 

Reporting to the Studio Manager, the Shift Manager, will be responsible to work on-site for all shift hours. This is a full-time hourly position. All candidates must be available to work nights and weekends, and holidays in line with our Studio business hours.

Responsibilities
  • Assign reps tasks to be completed on each shift
  • Supervise employees on shift both instructors and reps 
  • support performance metrics for all team members such as brand standards, sales goals, schedule expectations, shift expectations and ensure all such metrics are met
  • Own equipment management, repair and replacement
  • Build strong student relationships; support troubleshooting account issues on site and identify how to drive retention
  • Properly resolve problems and troubleshooting issues as they arise without the direction of management
  • Own brand standard management and maintenance; train team members on expectations and communicate projects that studio needs leadership support to complete
  • Manage multiple projects at the same time
  • Report to the studio manager directly day-to-day; dotted line to DOO for goals and project priority across the region
  • Organize shift schedules for team members as needed
    • Build and distribute sales representative schedule; manage changes as needed 
    • Collaborate with SM to understand the instructor schedule; field instructor time off and own instructor schedule changes as needed
  • Monitor attendance, tardiness and call-outs; communicate personnel management needs with SM directly 
  • Support recruiting for store; own training and onboarding for new team members 
  • Handle customer issues and managing conflicts
  • Proficient in AI; able to communicate last minute schedule changes with students in emergency situations 
  • Adhere to company policies and health, safety and employment standards
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Competencies
  • 5+ years of industry experience
  • 3+ years of managerial or supervisory experience

Competitive Compensation 💸
Things we take into account when calculating the compensation are global averages per skillset, your local cost of living, your skills, and your experience. This role will be paid $22 to $24 an hour based on experience.
